The Ministry of Health and Population circulated a guideline to hospitals and various medical sectors to deal with any cholera cases to help prevent the spread of the disease in neighboring countries and based on warnings from the World Health Organization.
According to the circular, the patient or suspected cases should be isolated immediately and their case must be reported to the ministry.
Samples from suspected cases should be withdrawn for analysis, and all of the patient’s contacts should be followed up continuously up to five days from the date of the last contact with the patient.
The Ministry of Health and Population has warned of the need to raise health awareness of health service providers in all hospitals in dealing with cases in accordance with its guidelines.
