Egypt’s Interior Ministry calls on car owners to get new e-stickers

In preparation to implement an integrated electronic traffic system, the Ministry of Interior urged that citizens quickly head to traffic departments and buy new e-stickers to be placed on vehicles, as part of an Interior Ministry strategy to modernize traffic services and management rules.

These new e-stickers will be used on highways by radars to detect vehicles, instead of number plates.

The e-sticker will be electronically linked to the Traffic Information Center of the Interior Ministry, detecting areas with traffic congestion and thus helping traffic police direct road users to the best alternative roads.

It will also help detect stolen cars.

The ministry’s statement called on vehicle owners in the governorates of Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Ismailia, Port Said, Suez, South Sinai, North Sinai, Red Sea, Marsa Matrouh, New Valley, Assiut, Aswan, Beni Suef, Qalyubiya, Damietta, and Luxor to head to traffic departments and buy the new e-stickers.

The Ministry also called on citizens who own motorcycles in Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Ismailia, Port Said, Suez, South Sinai , Red Sea, Qena, Luxor, and Aswan to head to traffic departments and get new plates that include both numbers and letters, instead of old plates that contained only numbers.
