Egypt’s Ministry of Transportation amended the country’s metro and railway schedules, in line with the Cabinet’s decision to amend the nation’s curfew hours, which will be in effect from nine pm to six am starting Friday, April 24, the first day of Ramadan.
The Egyptian Railway Authority will also operate eight additional trains on the Alexandria–Abu Qir line, an additional train on the Alexandria–Tanta line, an extra train on the Cairo–Lower Egypt line, two additional trains on the Beni Suef–Maghagha line, and another two on the Maghagha–Beni Suef line, bringing the total number of trains in operation to 716.
The scheduling of additional trains is part of the effort to facilitate the movement of citizens during Ramadan, in keeping with the country’s curfew, the authority added in a statement.
The Egyptian Company for Metro Management and Operation also announced the scheduled times for the last trains of each evening on all three of Cairo’s metro lines.
The last trains on the first line will leave from Helwan station at 8:15 pm, and from Marg station at 8:30 pm.
The last trains on the second line will leave from both Shubra al-Khaima station and El-Monib station at 8:35 pm.
The last trains on the third line will leave from Attaba station at 8:45 and from al-Shams Club station at 8:15 pm.
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced on Thursday that Egypt’s curfew hours will be shortened during Ramadan. The curfew is now from nine pm to six am.
