Egypt’s National Research Center is testing four vaccines in pre-clinical trials, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Wednesday.
Seventeen potential vaccines are now in clinical trials worldwide, and 132 are in the pre-clinical trial stage, the WHO said.
According to the WHO, vaccines currently in clinical trials are being developed by Oxford University, Imperial College London, and the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
Egypt’s Ministry of Health has allocated two hotlines, 105 and 15335 (01553105105 on WhatsApp), as well as the Egypt Health app, for receiving inquiries about coronavirus and other infectious diseases.
Egypt on Tuesday announced 1,557 new positive coronavirus cases and 81 deaths. The total number of coronavirus infections in the country is now 68,311, including 18,460 recovered cases.
The total number of deaths so far is 2,983.
