Egypt’s pavilion in Expo 2020 Dubai wins 3rd place for interior design

The Egyptian pavilion in Expo 2020 Dubai won third place for interior design in the medium-sized pavilions category, in the official competition organized by the International Bureau of Exhibitions.

The pavilion also won second place in the audience’s vote conducted by Exhibitor Magazine for the best participating countries in the Expo.

Forty of the best pavilions at the Expo participated in the competition.

The Egyptian pavilion enjoyed a great turnout over the six months of the Expo, as the number of visitors to the pavilion exceeded 1.5 million from different countries of the world, given that the pavilion presents the public with a miniature version of Egypt, with all its details and its natural, tourist, industrial, architectural and historical components, in an interesting and short tour that does not exceed half an hour, Minister of Trade and Industry, Nevin Gamea, said.

The secret behind the Egyptian pavilion being one of the most prominent pavilions in the Expo is the message that the pavilion presents to the visitor through a story about Egypt under the theme “Legacy Empowering the Future”.

The story takes the visitor on a journey through time between the civilization of the past, the achievements of the present and the vision of the future, Gamea added.

The Egyptian pavilion highlighted the latest developments about comprehensive and sustainable development in Egypt, and was able through its content, which combined the fragrance of the past represented by the original archaeological sarcophagus and pharaonic reproductions, and the manifestations of a modern state, to attract the attention of the Expo visitors, Gamea said.

Egypt participated in the six-month-long Expo, where it presented itself as an investment destination.

An archaeological coffin was dispatched from Egypt to Dubai to show at the Egyptian pavilion.

It is the ornately decorated sarcophagus of priest Psamtik bin Uzir, one of several recently discovered in the archaeological area of Saqqara through an archaeological expedition of the Supreme Council of Antiquities.

A group of archaeological replicas was also sent as part of efforts to promote Egypt’s heritage.

The Egyptian pavilion also included a group of pictures and promotional films on archaeological sites, tourist resorts and the Grand Egyptian Museum.

Tourist advertising panels featured designs and drawings of ancient Egypt, and hieroglyphic symbols were used in decoration inside and outside the pavilion as part of the theme.

The Egyptian pavilion participating in the exhibition was located in the Opportunities Area, which is considered the most important area of the Expo Dubai, next to the UAE pavilion.

Egypt’s goal in participating in this event is to integrate with the world towards a better future, through developing initiatives that serve all aspects of life.

The expo was originally scheduled for October 2020, but was postponed to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. It came to an end on March 31 with tremendous success, recording more than 24 million visits and welcoming 192 countries.

The exhibition was divided into three areas: Opportunities, which aims to unleash the potential of individuals and societies to shape the future; Mobility, which aims to create more efficient and effective means for the movement of people, goods, and ideas; and finally Sustainability, which aims to foster respect to the planet to ensure a cleaner, safer and healthier future for all.
