Egypt’s Youssef Ramadan qualifies for Tokyo Olympics swimming semi-finals

Youssef Ramadan, a swimmer on the Egyptian national team, succeeded in qualifying for the semi-finals of the 32nd Summer Olympics, which are currently being held in Tokyo through August 8.

The 19 year-old managed to finish the 5th race of the 100-meter butterfly competition with a personal record of 51.67 seconds, coming in 14th place.

The semi-final competitions are scheduled at dawn on Friday. Egypt has won two bronze medals so far, through Taekwondo stars Hedaya Wahba and Saif Eissa.

Egypt’s representation in the current Olympics is the largest it has even been, with 137 athletes in 23 games, including 89 males and 48 female players.

The previous largest Egyptian delegation was in the 2016 Rio Olympics, in which Egypt participated with 120 male and female athletes.
