Elections cancelled in 19 Egyptian constituencies for 1st phase: Authority

The head of the National Elections Authority in Egypt, Hazem Badawy, announced on Tuesday that elections in 19 constituencies in the 2025 House of Representatives elections were canceled across all the governorates included in the first phase.

In a press conference held by the NEA to announce the results of the first phase of the 2025 House of Representatives elections, Badawy said that the authority had observed several violations there.

These included the failure to provide candidates with a copy of the vote tally report and discrepancies in the number of votes between sub-committees and general committees.

Badawy asserted that these violations were fundamental flaws that undermined the integrity of the voting and counting processes, noting that the annulment was in accordance with Article 54 of the Law on the Exercise of Political Rights.

He also stated that a new date for the annulled elections would be set.

“The people’s choice determines who represents them in Parliament,” he stressed.
