Embassy in Tunis ready to transport body of dead Egyptian captain

The Foreign Ministry said the documents regarding the body of the Abu Anis boat captain who died early Sunday in the city of Zarzis in southeast Tunisia are completed and the body can be shipped at the state's expense to Egypt.

A diplomatic source said that the shipping is taking place in exceptional circumstances, since the incident took place in Zarzis, which is about 600 km from the Tunisian capital.

The body was first transported to a morgue in the city of Sfax. Then the consulate committee dispatched by Ambassador Ayman Mesharaf  stepped in to negotiate with local authorities and the military court in Sfax to bypass the routine procedures for transporting the body between the three cities.

Tunisian armed forces confronted on Saturday three Egyptian boats sailing illegally in the regional waters near the Zarzis coasts, causing the death of one of the captains, the state's official news agency said on Sunday.
