The new Emir of Qatar has congratulated Egypt's interim president, Adly Mansour, on taking office, after the army ousted elected President Mohamed Morsy, an Islamist supporter of the Gulf state.
Qatari news agency reported on Thursday that both Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who took power last week after his father stepped down, and Qatari Prime Minister Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani, sent congratulatory telegrams to Mansour.
