Employee of Egypt’s metro reportedly dies of coronavirus

The Egyptian Company for Metro Management and Operation refused on Sunday to confirm rumors regarding the death of a metro driver from coronavirus and the infection of other company employees.

The company said that the Egyptian Cabinet is the party responsible for announcing coronavirus statistics in Egypt.

Sources within the company had previously revealed the death of a driver who worked on the second line of Cairo’s metro. The employee reportedly died on Thursday after showing symptoms of coronavirus infection while he was at work. He tested positive for the virus before he passed away, the sources said.

The sources also said that metro stations and ticket sales counters are disinfected every two hours and metro cars are sterilized before every trip.
