Endowments Minister: only judiciary can dictate death penalty

Religious Endowments Minister Mohamed Mukhtar Gomaa said that only the judiciary has the right to issue death sentences and that no one else is allowed to do it, so as to avoid chaos within society .

He added in a press statement on Monday that the “takfiri” and extremist groups believe they have the right to be judges, kill people and take their money. “No one in the world can understand or accept that,” he said. “We cannot allow those ignorant terrorists to tarnish the tolerant and civilized nature of our religion.”
