Euro Parliament criticizes Naga Hammadi shootings

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry criticized some members of the European Parliament for their role in pushing a decision to criticize the Christmas shootings in Naga Hammadi.

Some members of the European Parliament’s Christian right had a significant role in the decision, despite the Naga Hammadi incident being “an Egyptian internal affair that no external party should address,” said the ministry.

Meanwhile, the Coptic Orthodox and Greek Orthodox churches organized a peaceful demonstration in front of the Greek Parliament on Thursday. Attended by hundreds of people, the demonstrators were protesting the status of Christians in Egypt and the Naga Hammadi shootings. A bishop at the event gave a speech expressing the Greek Church’s anger with the violence against Christians in Egypt.
