Everything you need to know about the Ahly SC vs. Mamelodi Sundowns match at the African Football League

Al-Ahly SC fans are awaiting their team’s game against Mamelodi Sundowns FC in the African Football League.

Ahly will play a strong match against Sundowns on Sunday in the first leg of the semi-finals of the African Football League, the new elite club tournament created by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

It qualified for the semi-finals of the African Football League at the expense of Tanzania’s Simba in the quarter-finals of the tournament.

The club fell into a 1-1 draw at home in its last match against the Tanzanian team Simba, leading to some anxiety amongst the Red Castle’s fans.

 

Date of the Al-Ahly and Sundowns match

The Ahly and Sundowns match will start on Sunday, October 29 at 3:00 pm Cairo time, corresponding to 4:00 pm Saudi Arabia and Mecca time and at 5:00 pm UAE time.

The match will be held on the grounds of Loftus Versfeld Stadium in the city of Pretoria, South Africa.

 

Channels broadcasting the match

The match will be broadcast on the Abu Dhabi Sports Channel, after the Abu Dhabi Channels Group obtained the television broadcasting rights for the new African Football League tournament.

The match will also be broadcast on:

  • Moroccan sports channel Arryadia SD/HD
  • ON Time Sports channel

 

Ahly’s expected lineup against Sundowns

Ahly’s squad is witnessing a push from Al-Ahly’s coach Marcel Kohler with Mahmoud Kahraba, who was locally suspended, in the spearhead position.

Marwan Attia is also expected to participate in the midfield, and Mohamed Magdy Afsha will play instead of Imam Ashour, who is absent from the match due to injury.

Kohler is also considering playing with Moroccan Reda Slim from the beginning of the match instead of Hussein el-Shahat, but has not made a final decision regarding the change.

Ahly’s formation against Sundowns will be as follows:

  • Goalkeeper: Mohamed al-Shenawy.
  • In the defense line: Mohamed Abdel-Moneim, Yasser Ibrahim, Ali Maaloul, and Mohamed Hani.
  • In midfield: Aliou Dieng, Marwan Attia and Mohamed Magdy Afsha.
  • In the attacking line: Percy Tau, Mahmoud Kahraba, and Reda Selim/Hussein al-Shahat.
