The National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) in Egypt said that Shawwal crescent will be appear immediately after the conjunction at 1:00 pm Cairo local time on Saturday, Ramadan 29, 1446 AH, which falls on March 29.

The new crescent will appear in the sky of Mecca for seven minutes, and in Cairo for 11 minutes after sunset, while its duration in the rest of Egypt’s governorates ranges between nine and 12 minutes.

Across the Arab and Islamic world, the new crescent moon will last after sunset for three to 19 minutes, which confirms that the date of Eid al-Fitr 2025 will be Sunday, March 30 as the month of Ramadan this year will only last 29 days.

The state grants workers an official holiday during the days of Eid al-Fitr, as the official holiday will be on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday (March 30 – April 1, 2025).

Muslims will perform Eid al-Fitr 2025 prayers on the morning of Sunday, March 30, in all mosques and prayer squares, with prayer times are determined according to the sunrise times in each city.
