A policeman from the explosives department was injured on Monday while defusing an IED planted by unknown assailants in the vicinity of the Police Officers Club.
Major General Meleegy Fattouh, Sharqiya's security chief, was notified by Zagazig residents that a strange object had been found around the club.
A team of explosive experts found that it was an IED. While defusing it, one policeman was injured.
A police report has since been filed and the prosecution is conducting investigations.
