Extremists destroyed a minaret in a mosque in the Abu Refaey area on Sunday in the city of Sheikh Zuwaid, North Sinai.
Eyewitnesses and security sources told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the extremists blew up the mosque's minaret using RPGs, fearing security would use the minarets to watch their movements.
