Eyewitness identifies police officer accused of shooting demonstrators

In his testimony before the court on Monday, an eyewitness identified a police officer accused of shooting demonstrators on 29 January in the village of Kerdasa, during the uprising.

The court heard the testimonies of three eye-witnesses in the case. Fourteen officers are accused of killing six demonstrators and attempting to kill 18 others.

The eyewitness, Amr Mohamed Senoussy, said he was helping an old lady cross the street when he was shot in the arm. “People later told me it was Officer Ossama Abdel Fattah who shot me,” he said.

Eyewitness Mohamed Ahmed, for his part, testified that Officer Mohamed al-Adly and another policeman had shot Ihab Nassar, who died instantly.

The defendants’ lawyers questioned veracity of the testimony. The court then asked the witness to identify the officer, which he did, although the officer tried to hide his face.

The witness submitted a CD of video clips and photos of the deceased to the court.

Eyewitness Yousef Yousry also presented the court with a CD containing pictures of Walid, a demonstrator bleeding from a bullet wound to his stomach. Although he did not specify a certain officer who did the shooting, he said that he managed to film policemen shooting for 15 minutes.
