Tax Evasion Misdemeanor Court postponed on Saturday retrial of Ahmed Ezz, steel tycoon tied to ex-President Hosni Mubarak era, to 22 February to further review the case documents,
Ezz is accused of evading LE10,680,000 in taxes on his Ezz Al-Dekheila and Ezz Holding companies.
Tax Evasion Misdemeanor Court of Appeals had earlier stopped the case. The misdemeanor court issued a verdict in May rejecting the case saying the First Instance Court had acquitted the defendant before and that prosecution wanted to bring the suspect to trial twice on the same crime, which violates the law.
