Ezz urges NDP: ‘Win Shura races fairly’

“We must win Shura Council seats fairly and honorably,” Ahmed Ezz, the ruling National Democratic Party’s secretary for organizational affairs, told party leaders in Qalyubiya. “We must distance the party from accusations of vote-rigging and bad conduct.”

The meeting was held at NDP headquarters in the city of Benha with the aim of gathering support for the party’s candidates in Shura Council elections slated to kick off next week.

Ezz emphasized the importance of winning council seats through honorable means and of forging an image of the party as one that cares about the public interest.

Ezz urged each constituency to form a “task force” mandated with achieving this goal. He pointed to female campaigners from the Muslim Brotherhood opposition movement–who have been going door to door in order to drum up voter support–as a good example.
