Fire at cafeteria of St Mark’s Cathedral brought under control

A fire inside the compound of the Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Abbasseya on Friday has been brought under control by firefighters.

Bishop Boules Haleem, the cathedral spokesperson, said the fire broke out in the cafeteria on the third floor of a building within the compound, but not connected to St Mark's Cathedral itself.

The losses, according to Haleem, were restricted to the cafeteria.

He said, however, that the firefighters were hampered in their work due to not having ladders with them.
