Colonel Nahed Salah, head of the police department at the UN Peacekeeping Mission to Morocco, has narrated her experience as the first Egyptian woman to join that country's UN missions during a speech at a training session held between February 21-25.
During her speech at the second training session, held by the Arab Women Organization in cooperation with the Cairo Center for Conflict Resolution and Peacekeeping in Africa (CCCPA) and Foreign Ministry’s Institute of Diplomatic Studies, Salah discussed the positive outcome of her work as a woman heading the mission’s police department as a result of her expertise about women’s special needs under such circumstances.
Salah said it is important for men to act in a supportive role alongside women so that work can be accomplished.
According to Egynews website, the Interior Ministry will dispatch a second group of women to peacekeeping forces in Darfur within the coming months, once the first group has been deemed successful.
