First shipment of life-saving medicines arrives in Cairo

Adel Tolba, head of the Egyptian Trading Pharmaceutical Company, instructed by the government to import the shortage medicines which are unavailable on the market, said that the first shipment of the medicines arrived early on Wednesday and the rest will arrive on Tuesday.

The medicines will be distributed among hospitals and pharmacies starting next Saturday.

Speaking to Al-Masry Al-Youm, Tolba said the shipment which arrived in Cairo includes 20,000 packages of human albumin and 1,000 anti-RH syringes, used for pregnant women.

The other shipment, which will arrive on Tuesday, contains the same amount of human albumin and 6,000 anti RH syringes.

The Health Ministry’s pharmaceutical department is responsible for distributing the shipments among pharmacies and hospitals in accordance with the needs of each province and information it has in this regard, he added.

Tolba denied any increase in prices of the imported medicines, adding that the rest of the shipments, which include 147 types of medicines will arrive later in accordance with the timeline made by the authorities in question.
