Forbes magazine has released its 2021 ranking of the richest people in the world, and five Egyptian businessmen have made it on the list, including Nassif Sawiris, and Naguib Sawiris.
Nassif Sawiris, the richest man in Egypt, ranked 297th worldwide with an estimated wealth of about US$8.3 billion. He is the only Egyptian billionaire on the list that moved up places last year, climbing from 330th place.
Naguib Sawiris came in second place, with an estimated wealth of US$3.2 billion, and ranking 956th in the world, down from 680th last year.
Coming in third is Mohamed Mansour, with an estimated wealth of US$2.5 billion, ranking 1,249th place, down from 590th last year.
Youssef Mansour, the elder brother of Mohamed and Yassin Mansour, took fourth place, with an estimated wealth of US$1.5 billion, ranking 2,035 worldwide, down from 1,135 last year.
Finally, Yassin Mansour, with an estimated wealth of about US$1.1 billion, ranked 2,524, down from 945th last year.
The richest people for the year 2021, whose fortunes have reached or exceeded a billion dollars internationally included Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, ranking first with a fortune estimated at US$177 billion, followed by Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, with a fortune of US$151 billion.
Musk has jumped from 31st to second place this year.
France’s Bernard Arnault came third, with a fortune of US$150 billion, followed by Microsoft founder Bill Gates, with a fortune of US$124 billion.
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder, came in fifth place with an estimated fortune of US$97 billion.
