Five fertile areas for coronavirus at home

In light of the spread of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 around the world, preventing infection has become an imperative. But despite all the preventive measures we may follow at home, there are several places in every household that represent a fertile environment for viruses and germs, including coronavirus.

The British Daily Star published a list of five places that can host coronavirus.

Even though carpeting may be cleaned regularly, cleaning alone may not be enough to remove germs and viruses. It is therefore advisable to clean the carpets with special detergents and to sterilize them regularly.

When leaving the house, coats and jackets may pick up germs and viruses. They should therefore be be washed well, or spread out in sunlight for a long period of time.

Towels are a fertile environment for a number of harmful bacteria and viruses, so towels must be replaced daily. Clean towels should be stored in a clean place.

Oven mitts are another hot spot for viruses and germs, and should be cleaned and replaced periodically. Experts recommend soaking oven mitts in warm water and a cup of white vinegar and soap to remove stains and get rid of grease.

Dirty pillows can also carry germs, so it is advisable to replace pillowcases regularly, and to wash them well. It is also good to wash the pillows themselves several times a year to get rid of any germs that may be inside.
