A Giza court on Friday ordered the detention of a leading Freedom and Justice Party official, the same day authorities held high-profile Muslim Brotherhood member Mohamed al-Beltagy for 15 days pending investigations into alleged violent crimes.
Gamal al-Ashry, the figure in charge of the FJP's security, has been held over alleged involvement in thefts from Omraneya Garage in Giza.
The garage was burgled during an assault on the Giza governorate headquarters in mid-August.
South Giza Prosecution also ordered the detention of Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohamed al-Beltagy for 15 days pending investigations.
A team of interrogators from the prosecution headed to Tora prison to question Beltagy on charges of inciting violence in Giza.
Over a dozen people died when supporters and opponents of ousted President Mohamed Morsy clashes in the Bein al-Sarayat neighbourhood in July.
Beltagy faces several charges including joining a gang for terrorist purposes, incitement to murder and attempted murder.
He also faces charges of thuggery, sabotage of public and private property, the torching of several government buildings, as well as the possession of firearms and ammunition.
