After heavy rainstorms and violent floods that killed at least 23 people, Beheira could be facing a new crisis.
Al-Masry Al-Youm reporters toured the province’s city of Kafr al-Dawwar and neighboring villages and found heightened water levels along agricultural canals that were overflowing onto farmlands. This presents a situation that could lead to a new crisis as more storms are predicted for the area as winter weather continues.
In Abis, one of the province’s villages, water levels reach the height of 30-40 centimeters in many neighborhoods. Some schools had to run two class shifts to admit students transferred from other flood-stricken schools.
