Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit held Israel responsible for the eleventh-hour cancellation of a scheduled summit of the Union for the Mediterranean by hindering negotiations with the Palestinian Authority (PA).
In statements made in Libyan capital Tripoli on Monday, the minister expressed hope for a breakthrough in direct talks between the PA and Tel Aviv.
The Mediterranean Union summit had been slated for 21 November in the Spanish city of Barcelona, but was postponed by participants–for the second time–at the last minute.
