Following series of losses, Ahly football club poaches star coach

Ahly Football Club Vice President Mahmoud al-Khatib reportedly met in Jeddah last week with Manuel Jose, a former Ahly coach, in an effort to lure the latter back to the club following a recent series of losses suffered by the team.

Jose recently resigned from Saudi Arabia's Itihad football club after failing to achieve the expected results. Nor, it has been reported, was he on good terms with the players.

Jose will have to pay a 400,000-euro penalty for resigning from the club before the end of his contract.
