Following Trump’s threats, Hamas announces it is ready for hostage negotiations

Following pressure from US Donald Trump, Hamas has announced its readiness to sit down immediately to negotiate to discuss the release of all hostages in exchange for a clear declaration of an end to the war.

The US President revealed that his administration had issued a final warning to Hamas to accept the proposed deal, threatening “dire consequences” if it rejected it.

Trump added on Sunday that the movement must take the initiative seriously, considering it the “last chance” to reach an agreement that would stop the war and establish a new negotiating path.

He noted that Israel had already accepted his terms, and now it was Hamas’s turn to make the decision.

Hamas announced that it had received America’s proposal to reach a ceasefire agreement. It welcomed any action that would assist in the efforts to halt the war, assuring that it is ready to sit down immediately to negotiate.

In a brief statement issued Sunday evening, Hamas demanded that the negotiations address the release of all hostages in exchange for a clear declaration of an end to the war, a full withdrawal from Gaza Strip, and the formation of a committee to administer Gaza Strip from independent Palestinians, which would assume its work immediately, while ensuring that the enemy publicly and explicitly commits to what will be agreed upon.

The Hamas movement expressed hope that previous experiences of reaching agreements that were rejected or overturned would not repeat.

The most recent of these was the agreement presented by mediators to the movement based on an American proposal, which the movement approved in Cairo on August 18.

Israel has yet to respond, and the genocide in Gaza remains ongoing.
