For the first time in the history of Saudi Arabia, female security personnel took part in security and organization of pilgrims during Umrah at the holy Kaaba, in Ramadan.
A video clip, published by the official account of the Saudi General Security via Twitter, showed female security personnel at the Kaaba while organizing pilgrims and receiving them, in cooperation with other security personnel from the Saudi Ministry of Interior.
According to the Saudi General Security, the presence of female security aims to comfort and secure pilgrims.
The majority of comments on the video clip were supportive of the presence of the female security at the Great Mosque of Mecca.
An account bearing the name “Nouf” commented, saying: “God bless your efforts and our daughters. We are proud of them.”
Another account bearing the name “Khaled” also commented, saying: “We ask God to grant you success and protect you and your fellow security men for serving Hajj and Umrah.”
