The Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced Monday that there will be no increase in the current consular fees for Egyptians abroad at diplomatic and consular missions, the state-run Al-Ahram newspaper reported.
A statement issued by the office of the Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister for Immigration Affairs said that the directives of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad stipulate the need to facilitate, develop and improve the efficiency of consular services provided to Egyptians abroad, respond to their needs, and accelerate the further digitization of consular services.
The statement came in response to reports regarding an increase in consular fees for Egyptians abroad at Egyptian embassies and consulates.
The statement noted that the ministry is about to launch an interactive website for Egyptians abroad that will automate consular transactions, as part of implementing the recommendations of the seventh edition of the Conference of Egyptians Abroad in August.
