Eighteen Egyptians have been released after being held captive by an army unit loyal to one of former Libyan leader Muammar Qadhafi's sons in the Libyan city of Tripoli, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Amr Roshdy.
The special forces Bani Walid Brigade is loyal to Khamis Qadhafi, the youngest son of former Libyan leader Muammar Qadhafi who was killed during the uprising against him last year. Khamis is also rumored to have been killed.
The captives were released and taken to Misrata under the supervision of the city's military council. An embassy representative visited them Wednesday to facilitate repatriation procedures for any of them who wants to go back to Egypt.
