Former Syrian vice president launches campaign against Assad

Former Syrian Vice President Abdel Halim Khaddam said he would ask US President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to submit a complaint against Syria to the International Criminal Court. In preparation for the move, Khaddam will request them to discuss the situation in Syria at the UN Security Council and form a fact-finding committee to determine the Syrian regime’s responsibility for recent events in the country.

Khaddam hopes such intervention from the international community would save the Syrian people from their regime, which he accuses of committing crimes against humanity.

He also said he will launch a campaign to sue Syrian President Bashar al-Assad before international tribunals.
