The former player for the Zamalek Sporting Club’s first football team, Saad Mohamed, passed away on Thursday after a tough battle with cancer.
In 2018, Mohamed learned of his cancer diagnosis and underwent a long period of treatment.
Zamalek SC had previously announced their full coverage of Mohamed’s medical expenses in 2020, before doctors declared his complete recovery from the disease in 2022.
However, Mohamed was once diagnosed with the malignant disease only a year later in 2023.
The player announced that he underwent a bone marrow transplant. Mohamed’s health continued to deteriorate, and he eventually passed away due to complications from the disease.
Mohamed joined the ranks of Zamalek at a young age, having begun his football career through the club’s academy until being afflicted by the illness that forced him to stop playing.
Throughout his battle with cancer, he received significant support from Zamalek’s fanbase and Egyptian football enthusiasts.
