The found art of voting

Over the past weeks, a lot of Cairo's ordinary objects have been transformed by their participation in the revolution. Street signs dented with rubber bullets; stones arranged into the Egyptian flag; graffiti bidding an unapologetic farewell to Mubarak–all relate the efforts of Egyptians without words. Surely in years to come exhibitions can be filled with the found art of the Egyptian revolution.

This repurposed juice and jam packing box, found today by education activist and comedian Motaz Attala at a Garden City polling booth, is blotted with the florescent thumbprints of hopeful voters. It shows, as Attalla put it, "on one small space the traces of a couple of hundred people having done something quite significant."
