Fourteen people were killed and two others were injured in a microbus crash with a truck-trailer on the Eastern Desert road in Minya, Upper Egypt.
The injured were transferred to Mallawi Specialized Hospital for treatment, and the bodies, including seven whose names and addresses are unknown, were kept in the morgues of Mallawi and Dermawas Hospitals.
The wreckage of the two vehicles remain at the disposal of the Public Prosecution.
The initial inspection of the scene revealed that the accident occurred as a result of excessive speed and wrong passing.
Informed sources confirmed that at 4:15 am on Sunday morning, the ambulance facility was notified that a two-vehicle collision had occurred.
A microbus carrying 15 passengers had collided with another transporting on a trailer, causing the accident.
Eyewitnesses said that civil protection vehicles, the road traffic police, and ambulances were called to the scene.
