Germany and the US decided to send observers to check security gaps at the airport, informed sources at Cairo International Airport said Sunday.
The German delegation, to arrive on Tuesday, plans to inspect security procedures that are being implemented at the airport, especially with regards to Lufthansa airlines and methods of dealing with disasters.
A security delegation from the US Department of Transportation is expected to arrive on Sunday to carry out an annual inspection of all security procedures at the airport. The delegation is to also inspect procedures of examining passengers and luggage heading to the US.
Last Thursday, Cairo International Airport received an international technical committee. Members checked the air services building at the airport.
The visit comes as part of implementing international agreements signed between Egypt and international aviation organizations. It’s regarded as a routine procedure that is held periodically to ensure Egypt is committed to international security standards.
