The Goethe-Institute returns to present its Film Week from September 20-26 in Cairo and Alexandria, celebrating German and Arab cinema.
It offers a diverse program of film shows and discussion sessions related to global cinematic issues, in addition to lectures and workshops by major players within the Egyptian and German film industry.
The program contains a group of films that highlight the talent, creativity, and diversity of the film industry in Germany and the Arab world.
It will includes a selection of German productions that vary between drama, comedy, and music, weather features, documentaries, and shorts.
The program includes 15 feature films that participated in international film festivals and received wide attention from audiences and critics, in addition to three short film programmes.
Some of these films will be shown for the first time in Egypt.
In addition to the film screenings, there will be specialized workshops with Egyptian and German experts on film making and distribution in light of current trends and issues in the film industry.
The Film Week also provides the opportunity for the public to ask their questions to filmmakers in discussion sessions dedicated to the audience.
And as part of the event, the “Whispers for Return” exhibition curated by artist Nadia Mounir, opened at seven pm on September 20 at Takhshina Gallery II at the Goethe Institute in downtown Cairo.
