Government says exported commodities down by 3% in July

Egyptian exported commodities dropped by percent in July, a government report said Saturday.

The report by the Ministry of Trade and Industry said the value of exports dropped from LE10,939 in July 2013 to LE10,607 billion in July 2014. It explained that the total of exports during the first six months of 2014 stood at LE94.07 billion.

It attributed the decline to a partial drop in exports to Arab states by LE523 million and to the United States by LE90 million.

The report, however, highlighted a rise in exports to European Union countries by 23 percent, standing at LE3.416 billion in 2014, up by LE651 million from 2013.

The report said Saudi Arabia remains the top recipient of Egyptian products with a total value of LE996 million, followed by United Arab Emirates (LE697 million), the United States (LE682 million), Turkey (LE560 million) and Italy (LE503 million)
