Gulf Cooperation Council issues a stern warning to Netflix

The Committee of Electronic Media Officials in the Gulf Cooperation Council called on Netflix platform to remove the offending content from the children’s works that it presents.

The committee said that it had monitored in the recent period some materials that violate the controls of media content in the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and that contradict Islamic and moral values directed at children.

In its statement and message to the global Netflix platform, the committee added that it will take all necessary legal measures in the event that the platform continues to violate.

The Media Committee of the GCC includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Sultanate of Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The Council was established in 1981, and its objectives are to enhance coordination, integration and interdependence among its members.

Netflix platform launched last month 15 works for children around the world, as the network announced the presentation of new series and films for children and the family weekly this summer in 2022, and revealed the works that it will display.
