The Hamas resistance movement hailed Egypt and Jordan’s stance against US President Donald Trump’s plan to relocate the Palestinian people in Gaza, and the announcement of an Arab plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip that does not involve displacement.
The movement issued a statement, saying: “The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) appreciates the positions of our brothers in Jordan and Egypt rejecting the displacement of our people, and confirming that there is an Arab plan for the reconstruction of Gaza without displacing its residents.”
Hamas views Jordan’s stance as an extension of its position in rejecting any resettlement projects and alternative homeland schemes, which aim to erase the identity and cause of the Palestinian people.
Regarding Egypt’s position, it said, “We appreciate the stances of our brothers in the Arab countries and all countries of the world that stated their opposition against any plans intended to displace our people or liquidate their national rights.”
Hamas stressed that Palestinians remain attached to their land and homeland, and will not accept any solution that undermines their legitimate rights to freedom and independence.
Egypt calls for plan that does not involve displacement
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Tuesday affirming Egypt’s intention to present a vision for the reconstruction of Gaza that ensures the Palestinians remain on their land.
The Foreign Ministry’s statement mentioned that Egypt expresses its aspiration to cooperate with the US administration led by President Donald Trump to reach a comprehensive and just peace in the region by achieving a fair settlement of the Palestinian issue that respects the rights of the peoples of the region.
Egypt stresses that any vision for resolving the Palestinian issue should take into account avoiding jeopardizing the gains of peace in the region, it added.
Jordan says that the only acceptable solution keeps Gazans in Gaza
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi stressed on Tuesday that the solution to the Palestinian issue must involve the Palestinian people remaining on their land.
During an interview with AlQahera News channel, Safadi said that the only solution that guarantees security, peace and stability for all in the region is one that respects the rights of the Palestinian people, based on the two-state solution.
