Amr Hamzawy, a political science professor at Cairo University, defines the intervention of the army in politics as a coup, considering the ouster of President Mohamed Morsy a “soft” coup.
“The mission of the military is to protect national security and maintain a cohesive state,” he added.
Meanwhile, columnist Mostafa responded to Hamzawy's statement, claiming whoever calls what happened on 3 July a coup is a “conspirator” and a “traitor.”
“Hamzawy speaks is in favor of the Muslim Brotherhood and the West,” he said.
