Health Ministry: 14 citizens injured in El Gouna Film Festival fire

Egyptian Health and Population Ministry announced, Wednesday, that 14 citizens suffocated due to a limited fire in a hall designated for the El Gouna Film Festival opening, in the Red Sea Governorate.

A statement by the Ministry of Health and Population stated that as soon as the fire broke out, 20 ambulances were dispatched to the site of the fire.

Eight victims were transferred to El Gouna Hospital, closest to the scene, where the Undersecretary of the Health Ministry in the Red Sea Governorate is present to follow up on the health status of the injured and ensure they receive the necessary care.

Ambulance teams and mobile clinics provided medical services to 6 cases at the site of the fire, they were suffering from suffocation and dizziness.

All recovered and were discharged.

The Health Ministry statement said that rapid medical deployment teams are on site, and equipped with all medicines and medical and preventive supplies.

It added that mobile clinics that provide all medical and ambulance services are present and ready within the medical insurance plan for the festival, to provide medical services for any injuries.

The Ministry stressed the readiness of hospitals in Hurghada and the Red Sea Governorate in general, to deal with all emergencies, as well as the availability of all medical teams from various specialties.

The Civil Defense have completely controlled the fire, and cooling work is continuing at the site of the incident.
