A recent avian flu fatality brought the total number of cases to 28 this year, announced Amr Qandil, head of the Central Department for Preventive Medicine at the Ministry of Health, on Wednesday.
The deceased is a 21-year-old woman from Monufiya Governate.
In a statement, Qandil said that the death marked the 10th this year. One-hundred-and-forty-six cases of the disease have been reported in Egypt since the disease first began to spread. Forty-nine patients have died.
