Meteorologists warned of a heat wave this week starting on Monday due to the seasonal Indian depression.
Air masses coming from the Mediterranean Sea loaded with large amounts of water vapor will lead to an increase in humidity levels, the Meteorological Authority said.
Temperatures will be higher than the normal range by two to three degrees, with the heat wave’s peak on Wednesday and Thursday.
Starting Saturday temperatures will decrease due to exposure to a depression in the upper layers of the atmosphere, which will help ease the humidity as well, a member of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority‘s media center Manar Ghanem said.
Mists in the morning will impact visibility on various agricultural roads and highways, especially close to water channels, the authority warned.
Temperatures predicted in Cairo this week:
- Friday: 36C
- Tuesday: 37C
- Wednesday: 38C
- Thursday: 38C
While temperatures predicted in southern Upper Egypt are 44C on Thursday and 45C on Friday.
