Hundreds of demonstrators joined Saturday morning the pro-Morsy rally in Rabaa al-Adaweya Square in Nasr City. Dozens of trucks arrived, loaded with iron barriers and wooden sticks to be used in securing the entry and exit points of the area.
Tens of thousands of President Mohamed Morsy's supporters rallied on Friday and announced a sit-in in advance of the 30 June protests in support of “the legitimacy of the first elected Egyptian President.” The opposition is organizing mass protests demanding for early presidential elections on that day.
Islamist protesters blocked Tayaran Street but other streets leading to the square were open.
