Hurgada–Around 400 people lay down in the streets near Safaga seaport because of mistakes made with reservations by a number of travel companies. Passengers were supposed to board the liner el-Muttahida.
The haphazard booking process prevented passengers from traveling from Safaga to the Saudi port of Duba.
Officials responsible for the vessel attempted to secure alternative travel for the passengers but were unsuccessful, leading to crowds of passengers who blocked the flow of traffic.
A number of affected passengers called on the ministries of tourism and transport to hold accountable the companies who made the reservations.
Some passengers said their travel agencies made slapdash reservations without notifying them of the time of travel or making sure there were spaces on board.
