Most hotels and resorts in Hurghada reported 100 percent occupancy on the first day of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, mostly from domestic tourism.
Abu Soma Bay, Makadi Bay and Sahl Hasheesh hotels announced that they are full until the end of the Eid holiday, amid COVID-19 precautionary and preventive measures.
The reservation prices of hotels in the areas that are cater to high-income folks and celebrities increased to about LE3,500 per night in areas like Abu Soma, Makadi, Sahl Hasheesh and Gouna due to the five-day holiday increasing demand among Egyptians.
Said Salem, director of reception in a Hurghada hotel, confirmed that foreign tourism is still low due to the lack of flights from major markets such as Germany, the UK, and Russia.
He added that the hotels all have a 50 percent occupancy limit, which was determined by the Egyptian Cabinet.
Committees from the Ministries of Health and Tourism continue to carry out periodic and unannounced inspections of the quality of services provided to hotel guests, and preventive and precautionary measures.
