EgyptAir canceled flight 985 heading to New York City and flight 986, coming from the same city to Cairo, due to Hurricane Sandy, which is expected to reach the US East Coast Monday.
News reports had said the hurricane killed nearly 66 on its way from the Caribbean. Experts believe it might become one of the most violent in US history.
Tawfiq Assy, director of EgyptAir Holding Company, told the German news agency DPA that the company is closely monitoring developments in relation to the storm in order to resume flights as soon as it is over.
Assy urged passengers who made reservations for the canceled flights to contact the company’s call center and sales office to check for the dates set for resuming the flights.
