Saad Eddin Ibrahim, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Ibn Khaldun Center for Development Studies, said the center is coordinating with 400 local organizations and a number of international organizations, such as the Carter Center and Freedom House, to monitor the upcoming parliamentary elections in 24 governorates.
He said the center will apply for a permit to monitor the elections. “But we will watch the elections even if we do not get a permit,” he said.
When asked about the possibility of the Carter Center monitoring the elections in Egypt, despite its announcement it would not participate because of what it described as a lack of good atmosphere, Ibrahim said everything is possible.
